Gandhi is a biographical film of 1982 about the life of the great Mahatma Gandhi, the leader and ideologist of the non-violent resistance movement against British colonialism in India in the first half of the 20th century.
The director is Richard Attenborough.
Starring Ben Kingsea, Candice Bergen, John Gielgud, Martin Sheen, Edward Fox.
According to the British Film Institute, this movie ranked 34th in the rating of 100 best films. Gandhi also received 8 Oscars – for Best Picture (Richard Attenborough), Best Actor (Ben Kingsley), Best Director (Richard Attenborough) and other awards, including 5 Golden Globe Awards and 5 BAFTA Awards.

“Ides of March” is an American political drama about the election campaign of Mike Morris for the presidency of the United States.
The director is George Clooney.
Clooney made this movie in his own script, written with American actor Grant Heslov and American screenwriter Bo Willimon.
The main roles were performed by real stars – George Clooney himself, Ryan Gosling, Evan Rachel Wood, Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The premiere took place on August 31, 2011 at the 68th Venice Film Festival. The drama was awarded many prizes and awards, including four nominations for the Golden Globe and the nomination for an Oscar for the best adapted script. At the Oscar, Ryan Gosling was nominated for the best male role.

J. Edgar

“J. Edgar” is another biographical drama of 2012 about John Edgar Hoover, an American statesman who served as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for almost half a century.
The director is the legendary Clint Eastwood.
In the lead roles – Leonardo DiCaprio, Armi Hammer, Naomi Watts.
Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in the Drama.

Wag the Dog

“Wag the Dog” is a satirical comedy of 1997 about the brilliant work of specialists in creating the image of political campaigns.
The director is Barry Levinson. The film is based on the book “American Hero” by Larry Bainhart.
Starring are world stars Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman, for whose sake it is worth watching the movie.
The movie received numerous awards, in particular the Silver Bear Prize (special jury prize) of the Berlin Film Festival.

Frost/Nixon 

“Frost vs. Nixon” is a 2008 historical drama about Richard Nixon’s series of interviews to British journalist David Frost, in the latter of which Nixon pleaded guilty to the Watergate scandal.
Director – Ron Howard. The script is based on the play of the same name by Peter Morgan.
The main roles were played by masters of cinema Frank Langella and Michael Sheen, who already played in the play “Frost v. Nixon” in theaters of London and on Broadway.
The premiere took place in 2008 at the London Film Festival. The film was nominated for various awards, including the Oscar in nominations for “Best Film”, “Best Director”, “Best Male Role”.
